[title size=”2″]The Great American Grilling Tradition[/title]
Ah, the Fourth of July! Basking in the sun with friends and family, watching fireworks, and–of course–firing up the grill. After all, what could be more patriotic than celebrating the great American grilling tradition?
In honor of the holiday, we’re featuring Mastering the Grill: The Owner’s Manual for Outdoor Cooking from independent publisher, Chronicle Books. iocolor has done Pre-Press for countless Chronicle titles in the eight years we’ve worked together. As such, we have shelves and shelves of Chronicle books in the office. There are provocative lifestyle books, great ideas for DIY crafts, and at least three shelves dedicated to food and drink. As we searched for a good Fourth of July book, Mastering the Grill practically jumped off the shelf.

Aside from great recipes and appetizing photographs to accompany them, Mastering the Grill explains the science of grilling. The authors, Andrew Schloss and David Joachim, give advice on grill maintenance, the best grilling techniques, and an in-depth knowledge of ingredients. We found this great review of the book on Simply Recipes. The author of the post talks about the value of Mastering the Grill, her favorite chapter, and her respect for the authors. Andrew Schloss and David Joachim also came out with another Chronicle book called Fire It Up that explains how to grill everything. With over four hundred recipes, you’d be hard pressed to find something they haven’t grilled.

This week, we’re tying our blog post into our most popular Pinterest board, Weekend Recipes. It may not be the weekend yet, but we’re making an exception. Here, Andrew Schloss gives tips on preparing the best burgers–from Deli-Style to the more adventurous Cajun, Apple and Sage, and Smoked Bacon Burgers. We hope these come in handy as you prepare for your Fourth festivities. If you try them out, let us know what you think!
Happy Independence Day from all of us at iocolor!
